If you have just arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and want to go direct to Genting Highlands Wind Tunnel the quickest and easiest way is to rent/hire a taxi and have it take you direct. This of course is the most expensive way.
The taxi ride will take you around an hour and a half to two hours. Depending on traffic and the time of day you are traveling. The taxi ride will cost around 180 Malaysia Ringgits. At the time of writing that is about $51.00 USD.
An alternative to the taxi is taking the bus. There is a bus from KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport). A one way bus ride to Kuala Lumpur Sentral is 8.50 Malaysia Ringgits or about $2.41 USD at the time of writing. This ride takes about 45 minutes. Busses to KL Sentral from KLIA are very frequent and easy to catch. However if you plan on taking the bus from KL Sentral to Genting Highlands you may find that you have to wait a bus ride or two. This can be an hour or more wait. The busses are very busy so be prepared to wait if you choose to take the bus. In saying that, if you have money to “blow” (pun intended) then forking out the fifty one bucks for the taxi ride to Genting Highlands is pocket change. It is also highly recommended.
The taxi drivers zip up and down the steep, windy, curvy roads on the way up and down to Genting Highlands/First World while the Busses continually get buzzed pass as they mope along. If you are after an adventure and some cultural experience then take the extra time and save the extra money. If you are tired and just got off a long flight then take the taxi and spend the extra cash.
Depending on your taxi driver you may be only taken to the Cable Cars at the bottom of the theme park. The Skyway Cable Cars are only 5 Ringgits ($1.41 USD). It is about a 15 minute ride up to the top. It’s a fun and leisurely way to arrive. If you do not feel like taking the cable cars ask your taxi driver to take you to the top. This should be discussed before departing the airport or wherever you flagged your taxi to be clear of any misunderstandings. So when you flag your taxi just be clear as to whether you are going all the way to the top or just to the cable cars for the set price agreed upon.
